Jiaxing University is located in Jiaxing,  the central hub of the Yangtze River Delta. As a provincial university with a rich history and profound heritage,Jiaxing University is led by President Lu Jun, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Honorary President Professor Zhu Jingwu, a world-renowned physicist, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and former President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

The university encompasses two campuses, Lianglin and Pinghu, spanning an area of over 1660 mu (approximately 110.67 hectares) with a building area of 610000 square meters. It currently accommodates over 18700 full-time undergraduate, graduate and international students, supported by a faculty of more than 1,760.

Jiaxing University is committed to developing a first-class discipline and specialty framework, offering 58 undergraduate specialties, including 6 national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, 10 provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, 5 nationally certified (evaluated) majors, and 1 provincial normal education innovation project selected as a specialty.

Jiaxing University strives to build a distinguished and efficient faculty. It currently employs 3 full-time and 12 flexible academicians, alongside numerous high-caliber scholars, including national distinguished experts, candidates of the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talent Support Plan," candidates of the national high-level talent special support plan, candidates of the Central Propaganda Department's "Propaganda, Ideology, and Culture Young Talents" in the theoretical circle, and provincial "Qianjiang Scholars" distinguished professors. Additionally, it features 2 provincial key innovation teams and 4 provincial teaching teams, with two experts selected for the provincial top talent program. Guided by the motto of " Being Upright, Diligent, and Careful in Academic Research ", Jiaxing University is progressing towards its vision of becoming a comprehensive, high-level university characterized by distinctiveness and innovation.

Jiaxing is situated in the northeast of Zhejiang Province, China , within the central Yangtze River Delta region. It is strategically located bordering Shanghai to the East, Suzhou to the north, Hangzhou to the west, and Hangzhou Bay to the south, making it a key city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. Jiaxing boasts a rich history and deep cultural heritage, The city is traditionally renowned as the "land of fish and rice" and the "land of silk."

As the cradle of Majiabang culture from the Neolithic era and the origin of Jiangnan culture, Jiaxing has flourished since ancient times. Designated as a national historical and cultural city in August 1983, Jiaxing has nurtured numerous prominent figures, including literary giant Mao Dun, novelist Jin Yong, scholar Jin Xueshu, poet Xu Zhimo, and mathematician Chen Shengshen. Jiaxing's natural landscape is characterized by the confluence of tides, lakes, rivers and seas. It features three 5A-levelscenic spots—Nanhu Lake, Wuzhen, and Xitang—and 4A-level scenic spots, such as Yanguan (Qiantang Tidal Bore), Nanbei lake and Qiyuan, collectively showcasing the quintessential Jiangnan water town scenery. Jiaxing holds historical significance as the site where the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China concluded. Since 2013, the city has hosted the annual Wuzhen Theatre Festival and Xitang Hanfu Culture Week. In 2014, Wuzhen in Jiaxing was selected as the permanent venue of the World Internet Conference.
